WELCOME SCOUTS!!
PACK 333 Is The Place To BE!
· Pack 333’s fun filled year round program welcomes all boys from 1st to 5th grades. Beginning in September, nine months are filled with Pack meetings, den meetings, special events and an exciting annual spring trip! For the other three months (June-August), monthly summertime activities are planned. Examples of what these were in the past: a pool party, picnic with games, mini golf, fishing, Night Hike at the Poole Wildlands Conservancy, bowling, and camping at Coca Cola Park after watching the Iron Pigs play a game of baseball!
· Pack 333 currently has 51 scouts in varying ranks. Cub Scout rank is determined by grade. Tiger = 1st grade, Wolf= 2nd grade, Bear=3rd grade and Webelo I=4th and Webelo II= 5th grade. A den (generally between 6-10 boys) is comprised of boys of the same rank. Den meetings are generally held twice a month. A Tiger Scout must have one parent/guardian with him at all activities and meetings. A den meeting is led by a trained den leader and at all times has a minimum of two adults in attendance. Training (conducted by Minsi Trails Council) ensures that the den leaders follow the BSA guidelines when planning and running meetings. Additional Pack support, among other leaders, is available to assist all leaders in providing a fulfilling scouting experience for every boy!
· Pack meetings, which are held on the last Tuesday of each month, are attended by all dens. These meetings are held at Faith United Church of Christ beginning at 7:00 p.m. On a monthly rotation, each den has the opportunity to help lead the Pack meeting. The assigned den is responsible for setup, providing a gathering activity, performing a skit and/or song and assisting in cleanup. The Cubmaster usually runs the meetings which are generally around one hour.
· Pack 333 has many fun monthly events! These events are run by an event chairperson(s) who is a parent volunteer. The chair person is supported by other volunteers from each den. A few examples of these events are: Pinewood Derby, Buddy Cake Bake, Scouting for Food, December Service Project and Spring Trip. Pack 333 is a volunteer organization and our great success has been driven by our wonderful volunteer parents!
· Communication is the key to the success for any organization .We have two basic ways of communicating with everyone within the Pack.
1.) A newsletter titled Pack Tracks is distributed to each family ( via email) prior to the monthly Pack Meeting. This newsletter contains vital information regarding upcoming events in the Pack.
2.) Committee meetings are held once a month. These meetings are run by the Committee Chair and attended by all den leaders, the treasurer, the Cubmaster, our Unit representative and all others who wish to attend. The main focus of these meetings is informational with an opportunity to plan, ask questions, and to share ideas to improve the Pack. The Committee Chair is the primary contact for leaders with any questions or concerns.
· Parental involvement is vital in cub scouting and a very necessary part in the running of Pack 333. The most important part of Pack 333 is the SCOUTS. Our efforts are to provide our scouts “fun with a purpose” !
· Our goal is to help our boys develop the official core values of Cub Scouting:
1. Citizenship
2. Compassion
3. Cooperation
4. Courage
5. Faith
6. Health
and fitness
7. Honesty
8. Perseverance
9. Positive
attitude
10. Resourcefulness
11. Respect
12. Responsibility
· Not any one person runs the Pack. The Committee and all volunteers work together as a team to help this Pack run effectively. It is through the involvement of the Committee, the parents and the scouts in Pack 333 that a quality program is provided. Pack 333 has consistently met the BSA criteria for a Quality Unit.
· Your child's Den Leader is your main contact for any questions/concerns; however, at anytime feel free to contact the Cubmaster or Committee Chairperson.
