PACK 333 Is The Place To BE!
Pack 333 consists of Tiger Scouts and Cub Scouts. The Pack 333 program is active all year round. Nine months are filled with pack meetings, special events, and den meetings. For the remaining three months, June through August, a monthly summertime activity is planned. Examples of what these were in the past have been a pool party, picnic with games, mini golf, fishing, Night Hike at the Poole Wildlands Conservancy, bowling, and Reading Phillies.
Pack 333 averages about 70-75 Cub Scouts in our pack. Currently we have about 60 scouts in our pack from 1st through 5thgrade. This past February 2005, we had 13 Cub Scouts move onto Boy Scouts (these scouts earned the Arrow of-Light award and moved into several local Boy Scout troops). Den meetings are held weekly and are made up of a group of 4 to 10 boys in the same grade. Parent(s) and tiger scouts must attend tiger meetings together. Each den has a minimum of one leader and all meetings MUST have at least two adults in attendance. The den leader follows the BSA guidelines when planning meetings and is provided with training and materials to assist them.
Pack meetings are attended by all dens and are held at Faith UCC Church on the last Tuesday of the month (unless noted) beginning at 7:OOPM.Each den takes a month to be responsible for setup, cleanup, and organizing the pack meeting. The Cubmaster works along with the den. A sample agenda is as follows:
Opening -Den & Cubmaster
Announcements -Committee Chair.
Skit and/or Song
Awards
Game or Fun Activity
Closing - Cubmaster
An event chairperson(s) runs special events with a representative from each den to assist in the coordination and running of the event. As there may be more events than there are scouts in a den, it is the den leader's role to coordinate with the chairperson any information that their den may need to support the event.
Communication is the key to the success for any organization. A newsletter called "Pack Tracks" is distributed to each family at the monthly Pack Meeting. This newsletter contains vital information regarding upcoming events in the Pack. All den advancements and "Pack Tracks" inputs are to be submitted by den leaders via email 2 weeks prior to the pack meeting.
Committee meetings are held once a month and are attended by adults only. All committee positions and at least 1 leader from each den are expected to attend. Parents are invited to attend at any time. The main focus of these meetings is informational with an opportunity to plan, ask questions, and to share ideas to improve the pack. These meetings are run by the Committee Chair, are about two hours long and are generally held on the second Sunday of the month. The Committee Chair is the main focal point for leaders with any questions or concerns.
Parental involvement is an important part of cub scouting and a very necessary part in the running of Pack 333. The most important part of Pack 333 is the SCOUTS. Our efforts are to provide them with a fun and quality experience of Cub Scouting. Not anyone person runs the pack. The Committee and all volunteers work together as a team to help this pack run effectively. It is through the involvement of the Committee, the parents and the scouts in Pack 333 that a quality program is provided. Pack 333 has consistently met the criteria for a Quality Unit.
Your child's Den Leader is your main focal point for any questions/concerns. However, at anytime you may contact the Cubmaster or Committee Chairperson.
Yours in scouting,
